Kumbh Mela 2027 in Nashik: dates, crowds and staying connected
The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh opens on 31 October 2026, with the main bathing days in August and September 2027. What foreigners need for a SIM, and how to stay reachable.
The Nashik-Trimbakeshwar Simhastha Kumbh Mela opens with the flag hoisting at Ramkund on 31 October 2026, and its three Amrit Snan bathing days fall on 2 August, 31 August and 11 September 2027, according to the schedule released by the Maharashtra government. Some sources place the Shaiva akharas' bath at Trimbakeshwar on 12 September.
The authorities are planning for around 120 million visitors over the whole Mela and up to 22.5 million on the peak day, spread between Nashik and Trimbakeshwar, 31 km apart.
What happens to the network
Nashik has no published telecom plan for 2027 yet. The closest reference is the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj in 2025, where India's Department of Telecommunications added over 300 towers, and Airtel alone added 287 sites and 78 cells on wheels.
