Is there cell service on the Icefields Parkway and in Banff?
Banff and Jasper towns are covered, but Parks Canada says the Icefields Parkway has no cell coverage, and Moraine Lake has none at the lake. Where the emergency phones are.
In Banff and Jasper towns, yes. On the Icefields Parkway, no. Parks Canada states that the Icefields Parkway between Lake Louise and Jasper has no cell coverage. At Moraine Lake there is no signal at the lake itself; it returns a few kilometres down the road.

Emergency phones on the Parkway
Parks Canada lists emergency phones at Wilcox Campground, Kerkeslin Campground and the Valley of the Five Lakes trailhead. Note them before you set off.
Before you drive the Parkway
- Download offline maps of the whole route in Lake Louise or Jasper.
- Fill up before you leave: fuel is limited, and in winter there is none.
- Check road conditions with 511 Alberta while you still have signal.
