Is there phone signal in Torres del Paine? Almost none on the W

Almost none. About 95% of the W and O circuits have no reception at all, according to Patagonia Scout (updated September 2026). The few spots with signal, around the pass on the way to the Base Torres viewpoint and near some refugios and the park gates, are on Entel, the only Chilean network with real rural coverage there.

Our Chile eSIM connects to WOM, which sources describe as weak in the park. In practice: plan the whole trek as offline, and use the refugio Wi-Fi to check in.

Where you might get a connection

• Towards Base Torres: full bars around the windy pass on the way up, on Entel.
• Some park gates, some refugios and Hotel Lago Grey: some 3G.
• Around Hotel Las Torres and Refugio Central: none.

Wi-Fi in the refugios

Since January 2026 the Vértice refugios, Paine Grande and Grey, offer free WhatsApp and 30 minutes of internet per stay. For the Las Torres refugios (Central, Chileno, Cuernos, Francés) we found no current prices, so bring the expectation of paid or no Wi-Fi.

What to prepare

1. Download offline maps of the whole circuit and your refugio and campsite bookings.
2. Agree check-in times with family around the Vértice refugios, where you can send a WhatsApp.
3. Carry a satellite messenger if you walk the O or go without a guide.
4. Use Puerto Natales for anything that needs a real connection, before and after.
